  • DTU Lyngby Campus Building 303A, Auditorium 42 (map)

Lotte Bjerre Knudsen, Chief Scientific Advisor in Research & Early Development at Novo Nordisk

Join us as Lotte Bjerre Knudsen, the pioneering scientist behind Novo Nordisk's breakthrough diabetes and weight loss drugs Ozempic and Wegovy, visits the Technical University of Denmark. Lotte’s groundbreaking research into GLP-1, a hormone that regulates blood sugar and appetite, has revolutionized diabetes treatment and led to a new class of medicines. After 20 years of persistence, her work has earned global recognition, including the prestigious Paul Langerhans Medal and most recently the Lasker Award. Lotte will share her insights on Wegovy and Ozempic, as well as how she persuaded Novo Nordisk's management to pursue research into weight-loss drugs in the 1990s. Additionally, she will discuss the role of women in science and the significance of having inspiring role models. Lotte didn't have a detailed career plan but followed her interests, which led her towards research in pharmaceuticals when she joined Novo Nordisk in 1989.
