This is a past event.
The first event of the semester is all about cybersecurity when we invite Thomas Flarup, Head of Center for Cybersecurity (CFCS) under the Danish Defence Intelligence Service (FE) to help us understand what they do to protect society from cyber attacks and more.
Once a student at DTU specializing in telecommunications, Thomas Flarup knows very well what it’s like being a student. Learn how Thomas took his steps from student to many interesting positions, both in the armed forces being employed in ‘Jægerkorpset’, but also working at Boston Consulting Group, TDC and KMD before his current work at CFCS.
In this Late Lecture, Thomas will explain how they work at CFCS to prevent attacks on both public and private companies that support vital functions for society.
During the lecture, Thomas will also explain how quantum computers and quantum communications will be a gamechanger in cybersecurity and what CFCS are doing about this game changer to stay ahead of the threads.
The CFCS (Center for Cyber Security) focuses on countering cyberattacks by analyzing internet traffic and providing prompt detection and response to potential intrusions. They also work on preventing cyberattacks by offering guidance, recommendations, and overseeing the security of electronic information systems. Additionally, they assess the increasing espionage attempts, particularly from state-sponsored actors, and emphasize the need for ongoing security measures. In the telecommunications sector, the CFCS serves as the regulatory authority for information security and ensures compliance with regulations by conducting regular supervision.
The event will take place at DTU, Lyngby Campus.
